The Directors and Trustees of Catholic Caring Services (Diocese of Lancaster) Limited present their annual report and audited financial statements for the year ending 31 March 2004.
Principal Activity
Catholic Caring Services is a voluntary organisation, registered as a charity (Charity Number 326021) and as a company limited by guarantee (Company Number 1596400). The charity's objects are set out in clause 3 of its Memorandum of Association, the principal objective is:
...to further the general charitable works of the Roman Catholic Church in the Diocese of Lancaster, particularly, but not exclusively, by providing services and facilities for the relief of poverty and suffering, the advancement of education and of the Roman Catholic religion and for charitable purposes beneficial to the community. To this end the Company's services will be directed to children and young people without families to care for them, children and young persons in trouble and/or at risk, people with disabilities and individuals, families and groups who are in need.
Governance
Catholic Caring Services is a registered Charity it is also registered as a company limited by guarantee. The Directors of the Charitable Company are its Trustees for the purpose of Charity Law. They are collectively referred to as the Board of Management. The Chairman of the Board of Management is the Roman Catholic Bishop of the Diocese of Lancaster.
Members of the Board of Management are appointed for a three year term; however, there is no restriction on reappointment. One third of the Board of Management retires each year. the members of the Board of Managerment are:-

It is this Board of Management which determines the policies of the Catholic Caring Services, reflecting changes in emphasis and responding to changing social needs. Though the Board meets quarterly throughout the year it delegates some of its responsibilities to its three -sub committees - the Finance Sub-committee, the Planning, Policies and Procedures Sub-committee, and the Health and Safety Sub committee. Day to day operational control of Catholic Caring Services is delegated to its Chief Executive Officer, known as its Director, who also holds the office of Company Secretary.
Jim Cullen, the Director of Catholic Caring Services since October 1993, is assisted by 3 Assistant Directors each of whom has a lead responsibility for our work with children and families, community initiatives - work with adults who have disabilities, and finance and resources.
